The Vikings have had a huge influence on the city of Dublin. From the ninth to the eleventh century they controlled the settlement, shaping its physical and economic growth, and contributing to the unique cosmopolitan character of what was to become Ireland's first town.

Until recently however, little was known about their lifestyle. For almost a millennium, their legacy was preserved under the streets and buildings of the city, until modern excavations unearthed a wealth of archaeological evidence.

This fascinating book gives a synopsis of the most recent finds in Dublin and its surrounding suburbs. Wonderfully illustrated, it paints a vivid and enlightening picture of life in Viking Dublin.
