TownHouse Dublin - the home of great Irish storytelling
TownHouse Dublin was founded in the early 1980s by Treasa Coady. From the early days, when everything was done from the kitchen table by Treasa, TownHouse has grown into a small but vibrant team, and has become a leader in the production of high-quality, non-fiction, Irish-interest books.
We publish 18-25 titles per year and our list includes books on the environment, gardening, mythology, folklore and music. We also publish books on sport, history, genealogy, literature and criticism, spirituality and, more recently still, commercial fiction. Books from TownHouse have appeared in co-publication with The National Gallery of Ireland, The National Museum, various government departments and The Chester Beatty Library.
In 2001, Simon & Schuster UK and TownHouse Dublin established a very useful joint venture, thus bringing to TownHouse the benefit of international sales and marketing.
Simon & Schuster/TownHouse publish great fiction from both emerging and established Irish writers and are committed to the ongoing task of publishing great storytelling. Books on sport, travel and spirituality from Irish authors also play a vital part in this exciting imprint, which will continue to expand for each title with a potential market outside of Ireland.
Those interested in submitting manuscripts for consideration are invited to send proposals in the form of an outline, in the case of non-fiction, or a synopsis, in the case of fiction, along with the first 3-4 chapters of the manuscript. A short autobiographical note and details of previous publications are also encouraged, along with an SAE if the material is to be returned.
